Loosen your belts as Avenue takes you inside the best places to dine.

To determine the city’s best restaurants in 10 categories we, the editors, teamed up with three experts: chef Gail Hall, who also hunted down and wrote our 25 Best Things to EatTwyla Campbell, restaurant reviewer for CBC Radio One’s Edmonton AM; and Jennifer Cockrall-King, author of Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution.

Together we lobbied, debated, tasted, re-tasted, judged (first the food, then each other) and then debated some more. We believe the result is a comprehensive and fair representation of the most exciting restaurants in the city. Click the following categories to find out the top three restaurants in each title.

Andy is right. You can enlist Continental Treat Fine Bistro (http://www.ctfinebistro.com/) in the list.

    The 2013 Best Restaurants

The 2013 Best Restaurants Guide has already been voted on by our committee but you are always welcome to comment on the committee's picks and make suggestions on the website. Commenting online when the story goes live in March is probably the best way to make a suggestion for 2014. Thanks for thinking of Avenue!
