Super fans will have dinner with Wayne Gretzky Sept. 23, when he returns to the city that made him The Great One.
The inaugural Legends Experience gala is hosted by the Kinsmen Club of Edmonton at the Expo Centre and emceed by former St. Louis Blues player Kelly Chase, who can’t wait for a little verbal sparring and joking with his friend and former competitor.
“[Gretzky] has that unique ability to make everyone around him feel good, and everything about him is sincere,” says Chase. “He’s just a complete star in every sense of the word.”
Tickets for a table range from $3,000 to $35,000 (sitting with Gretzky), and Kinsmen marketing director Brad Wackenhut predicts that tickets will sell out. Proceeds from the event go to more than 20 local charities, including the Stollery Children’s Hospital, the Youth Emergency Shelter Society and the Cross Cancer Institute.
