CTV News called Avenue’s Top 40 Under 40, presented by Lexus of Edmonton, “Edmonton’s best-kept secret,” a feeling shared by many at the special gala held on October 29 at Sabor Divino. Sworn to secrecy for months, the inaugural Top 40s were unveiled as the city’s next generation of artists, community builders and business people honoured for their career successes.

“It was overwhelming to be part of something like this,” says Orville Chubb, publisher of Avenue Edmonton. “These individuals, who may not otherwise ever cross paths, were brought together and acknowledged — most for the very first time — for their contributions.”

The honourees, who included City Councillor Don Iveson and race relations activist Junetta Jamerson, were joined by over 300 friends, family members and plain old party crashers. “The award winners were not only the most amazing individuals, but they represented the vibrancy and diversity of our city,” says Chubb.
