The 13th annual Art on the Block party took cues from the Art Gallery of Alberta’s current Andy Warhol: Manufactured exhibit with retro decor, ’60s music and classic cocktails.
Over 400 people attended the AGA’s biggest fundraiser of the year on May 12. Through tickets and silent auction bids, the AGA raised $130,000 with net proceeds going to its education and exhibit programs.
“The auction items at Art on the Block are selected by a committee led by local artists Lynn Malin and Arlene Wasylynchuk,” said Oksana Gowin, head of the AGA’s marketing team.
“Whether starting a collection or adding to one, art lovers and collectors had the chance to bid on a wide range of works by professional, emerging and established artists from Alberta and across Canada.”
