Avenue regrets to announce that Joe Flaherty has come down with an illness and will not be able to fly to Edmonton for Thursday’s SCTV Retrospective at the Metro Cinema at the Garneau.
“We got the news Wednesday morning,” said Avenue Editor Steven Sandor. “We have the footage selected, the speakers lined up, the beer in the cooler, the theatre booked. And we decided, as the event is a tribute to a wonderful time in Edmonton, that the show will go on.”
Tickets for the event are $25 and include two drink tickets that can be redeemed for wine or a selection of beers from Mill Street Brewery. Tickets for the event can be purchased through YEGLive. The event will feature commentary from those who were behind the scenes when SCTV enjoyed its glory years in the early ’80s, produced out of the south side studios that now belong to Global Television.
Money raised by the event will go towards building a permanent monument to SCTV’s years in the City of Champions.
“We thank Joe and Second City for their support for this event, and we wish Joe a speedy recovery from his illness,” said Sandor.
