Review: EOS Lip Balm Smooth Spheres

"Easter eggs!"

That's what tumbled out of my mouth when I first saw the new Lip Balm Smooth Spheres by EOS (Evolution of Smooth).

The Lip Balm Spheres are colourful little nuggets of goodness with a ton of attributes worth bragging about: Each sphere made entirely with natural ingredients and is 95-per-cent organic; it's paraben- and petrolatum-free; and not tested on animals.

But even the not-so-ecologically friendly consumer can appreciate the shea butter, jojoba oil and beeswax, which make for a soft and non-clumping moisturizer.

If you're a fan of Bert's Bees lip care products, you'll love these. They have a similar feel to Bert's, while interesting fruit extracts (such as blueberry and peach) pump up the flavour punch.

The downside? In my humble opinion, you look like a tool applying it — like you're trying to swallow a boiled egg whole instead of take care of your dry lips.

However, there are so many upsides to this product, many of you will be able to put vanity on the backburner and proudly tote the lip balm in your bag.

And on yet another plus side, the encasement in an adorable (if not slightly awkward) ergonomic sphere that has a neat texture and is made of recyclable plastic. My Summer Fruit sphere even came to the rescue on a long shopping trip with my toddler nephew. The cute red nugget served as a little ball to keep him entertained.
