
In honour of it 30th anniversary, the Film and Video Arts Society Alberta hosted FAVA Fest from March 20 to 24, which culminated with the first-ever Awards of Excellence for local filmmakers in five categories.
“It’s a silly thing, but sometimes people think that after many years they don’t need acknowledgement," says FAVA President (and filmmaker) Eva Colmers. "To be asked to come on stage, to look at the audience and to receive a full-fledged thank you, that shows we want them to continue."
Colmers says the artist-run co-op plans to make the awards event annual. "It’s amazing for the heart and soul." Here are the winners:
