Tell us how you knew that your fiancé was The One for you in 500 words or less:
STEP ONE… create the perfect weekend … which includes taking a girl on her birthday to Banff where the plan is to take said girl to the spa for a relaxing couples massage in the morning (more for his nerves so it will come to be known) and then an afternoon ride to the top of the mountain where he will reach into his “knapsack” and hand her a one carat square cut diamond. Not a ring, but a diamond (because he has seen her best friend change her ring three times before she was happy and he doesn’t want to suffer through that) Now, throw in fog, pelting rain and negative temperatures into the plan and suddenly the gondola is closed and the once relaxed boy, now has to come up with an alternate plan before the end of the weekend. TAKE TWO… in the morning before having to check-out, hand the above mentioned girl the diamond in bed and video tape her reaction to what was a truly perfect morning that unfortunately also included a mess of bedhead hair. (kinda wish he had warned me so I could have put a comb through the mess) Six months later the diamond has been turned into a beautiful ring and the girl hands it back to the boy on his birthday, in bed, in the morning (minus the bedhead hair because… well… he just doesn’t get messy when he sleeps) and says “it’s your move.” Now go forward four months to where the boy is in planning mode again. This time he buys the girl snorkel gear for Christmas and hopes she can learn on their January trip to Hawaii. Remember the “knapsack ?!” it comes along for the trip packed with accessories to execute another perfect plan. It is taken to the beach where they plan to snorkel. It is filled with notes in plastic bags that say “will you marry me.” The plan is to place the notes in the water for the girl to find while snorkeling. Ah… but don’t anticipate that the girl freaks out and can’t, rather won’t, snorkel (the girl did finally get the hang of it on the last day). So, again, TAKE TWO. Two days before the planes leaves for home a new plan comes to form. Take the girl to the secluded beach they found, and while she is searching for shells, write a message in the sand, put the ring in a coconut for her to find and video tape her finding the surprise. Again, a perfect moment including blowing, unruly hair getting caught in her lipgloss, thus sticking to her face... making for yet another great video. Three things I do know… if the “knapsack”shows up then I know something fabulous is inside. Two, he really doesn’t care if I am having a bad hair day, but it will make it to film somehow. And lastly, I know without a doubt is that he IS THE ONE.
