The Art Gallery of Alberta was teleported back to the 1920s for Unmask the Cure: The Carnival to Conquer, a prohibition-meets-midway-themed party hosted by the Rotary Club of Edmonton.

The event featured a seven-course tasting menu from Zinc’s executive chef, David Omar, and a dance party. About 250 guests bought tickets and placed silent auction bids to raise money for team Spin in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer, an upcoming 200K bicycling marathon.

The $10,000 raised will ultimately go to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Each guest dressed the part and drank it too; “hooch” was strong on the liquor menu, beer and wine not so much. “We got to see a great variety of colours and textures, from pink wigs to tailored vests and tutus,” said Laura Ritchie, the event’s co-organizer, who squeezed into a corset by Sweet Carousel Corsetry. “It was a true carnival.”
