Tell us how you knew that your fiancé was The One for you in 500 words or less:
I’d been through various online dating sites and finally decided I was happy single and gave up the search. That’s when Rob just showed up. We were introduced by my cousin, who thought we had some things in common (we both did the same business) and that we should talk. I tried to take him for lunch but he avoided me, until he joined Facebook and I became one of his “friends” due to my email being in his addressbook. So we started chatting, then flirting, then emailing and finally 2 hour long phone calls – during one of which he cheered me up on a really bad day. He was already becoming my soft place to land and my best friend. We read all the same books, eat the same food, and have the same goals in life. I had to go away on a business trip so we decided to meet in person the day after my return. I was surprised to return and find a rose on my dining room table with a card from him. He had contacted my sister on Facebook, who put him in touch with my mother – who he arranged to get the rose to (without meeting her) and she delivered it to my house – much to my surprise. VERY romantic and we hadn’t even met yet. 4 months after we met he moved in and shortly after our first anniversary, he made sure I had the day off on 8/8/8 – as it was a “special day”. He was taking me out of town so I asked what to pack – shorts, swimsuit, dress clothes, golf clubs or what? He said all of it to keep me in suspense. We stayed overnight at a friends house on the way to our destination, in the morning was told we had to get up at 7am because we had an “appointment” and that the day was going to be relaxing in nature. I assumed at that point we were going to the Banff Springs hotel for massages and dips in the hot springs. I was surprised when we stopped at a hiking area and he got out and put on his boots. So I did likewise and asked how long it would be – I was told 4-5 hours! Yikes – I’m NOT a fan of hiking. I thought we’d hike like 15 minutes and have a nice picnic in the woods – NO straight up the mountain we went! I complained all the way up, and didn’t want to go any further. Finally at the top we stopped and ate the lunch he had packed. Then he got on his knees and said “I wanted to bring you to my favorite place in the whole world and give you this” and he produced the ring. We both cried and put it on my finger. I felt really bad about whining all the way up then, but thrilled to spend the rest of my life with my soul mate.
