Rita: Next on the docket — Fruits & Passion’s Argan Nourishing Collection. Fruits & Passion is a well-established and well-recognized name when it comes to bath, body, and skin care.

Emma: The Argan line is comprised of three products including; Nourishing Butter, Hand Butter and Cream Body Wash. All three contain argan oil, the natural oil pressed from a kernel found in Morrocco, known for its toning, firming and regenerating properties.

R: You can tell it’s a very rich, moisturizing ingredient by the way it feels on your skin. I read that argan oil contains three times more Omega-6 essential fatty acids than olive oil.

E: Another great thing about this line is how it’s harvested — with a social conscience.

R: You’re right. Fruits & Passion stands by its commitment to “ethical and authentic harvest,” producing argan oil according to fair trade and sustainable development principles. Plus, they don’t test on animals. What did you think of the products themselves?

E: Well, as you know, I’m a sucker for really rich moisturizers. I absolutely adore body butters because I feel they work deeper and last longer than your typical moisturizing lotion. The Argan Nourishing Butter is a good combination of nourishing oil and lotion.

R: Especially in our Alberta climate, these butters are great. They nourish even the driest skin types, and are long-lasting. The moisturizing butters have similar characteristics, although, unlike the Nourishing Butter, the Hand Butter is comprised of additional plant moisturizers, including sunflower extract.

E: Ok, I have to be honest. I’m not totally sold on the smell.

R: It’s described as a “fresh ocean scent,” but it’s a bit too strong for my taste.

E: Yes, it’s a tad “perfume-y” for me too, but some people like an obvious smell.

R: The Cream Body Wash is the cherry on top. It’s definitely my favourite product in this line.

E: Mine too. The scent is softer than the butters, and incredibly moisturizing for a body wash. You can actually feel the suds softening your skin while you shower.

R: It’s also great for sensitive skin — non-irritating and a perfect shaving partner, even for people who usually experience razor burn or nicks.

E: Best of all, this product line is a suburb choice for shoppers who want to be environmentally and socially sensitive, but who may also have a “sensitive” budget. It’s the best of both worlds.

Nourishing Butter 250g retails for $22; Hand Butter 50g retails for $10; Cream Body Wash 200 mL retails for $14. All three can be found at any Fruits & Passion location.
